Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractic care is focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders and injuries of your muscles, joints, and nerves, also referred to as the neuromusculoskeletal system. Common issues that are related to your neuromusculoskeletal system include neck and back pain, headaches, muscle strains, and sprains among other things. Treatment commonly includes a combination of adjustments/joint movements, muscle release techniques, prescribed exercises/stretches, and recommendations on activity modifications.

Many people generally report feeling less stiff, a sensation of feeling “lighter”, and even report sleeping better. Sometimes, there can be some soreness after treatment, similar to how you can feel after intense exercise. Usually this soreness goes away within a day or two.

Sometimes there are gas bubbles in the fluid in your joints. When you get adjusted that gas is released causing the popping noise that you hear. This occurrence is referred to as a joint cavitation.

Dr. Phillips will go over your symptoms and your health history prior to any sort of treatment, but generally chiropractic care is safe and highly effective for pain management during your pregnancy. As your body grows to accommodate your growing child, sometimes you can experience discomfort and stiffness from how your body adapts to these changes. Chiropractic care can help your body adapt to these changes.

Short answer, no. That being said, chiropractic care is not only beneficial for decreasing pain and stiffness, but also for helping to maintain proper muscle and joint function. Similar to taking care of your teeth through consistent brushing and going to the dentist, taking care of your muscles and joints with consistent stretching, exercise and chiropractic care can be helpful for preventing issues before they occur.

After you schedule your appointment, we will electronically send your new patient paperwork to you. We require that your paperwork be filled out and submitted before your appointment time. Doing so allows Dr. Phillips to review your information prior to your visit, and to dedicate most of your appointment time to helping you feel better. During the course of your first visit, Dr. Phillips will be asking additional questions about your health and your goals, perform an examination to determine what types of treatment would suit you best, and work with you to create a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. Most people also begin treatment on their first visit.

No, we do not require a referral for you to see us.

How often you need to follow up for continued treatment greatly varies based on your health history and goals for treatment. Oftentimes, issues that have been around for shorter amounts of time tend to improve more rapidly, while more chronic/longer-term issues can take longer to improve. Dr. Phillips takes all these factors into consideration to work with you to create a plan of action to help you achieve your goals.

Your level of care should not be dictated by an insurance carrier. We elected to be a self-pay practice in order to keep a straightforward pricing model. This allows us to spend less time on the phone with the insurance company, and more time focusing on helping you feel even better. At the end of your appointment we will provide a superbill showing the services that you received. You can submit the super bill to your insurance company and they may reimburse you based on your out of network chiropractic coverage. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and can differ depending on your coverage. We recommend you call your insurance company directly to better understand your out of network benefits.

We accept all major credit/debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We also accept FSA/HSA cards if you have those available to you.
